A massive and dangerous winter storm is sweeping across the central and eastern United States this week, forcing millions of residents in twelve states to brace for treacherous weather conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a series of winter storm warnings, advisories, and watches that are expected to remain in effect through Saturday morning, as the system continues to deliver heavy snow, freezing rain, and strong winds.
The affected states include Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Authorities in these regions are urging residents to prepare for prolonged disruptions to travel, possible power outages, and dangerous conditions on roads and highways.
