Newly Declassified Records Suggest Adam Schiff Approved Leaks of Classified Information During Trump–Russia Probe

Freshly released FBI interview summaries are reigniting controversy around Senator Adam Schiff, with a whistleblower alleging that he authorized the leaking of classified material during the height of the Trump–Russia investigation — and that those leaks were intended to politically damage then-President Donald Trump.

The documents, obtained by Just The News, detail statements made to the FBI between 2017 and 2023 by a source described as a Democratic intelligence officer who worked directly for the House Intelligence Committee. At the time of the alleged incidents, Schiff was the ranking Democrat on the committee and would later become its chairman.

Whistleblower’s Allegations
According to the whistleblower, Schiff explicitly told staff during an all-hands meeting that the committee would leak classified information “derogatory” to Trump. The stated purpose, the source claimed, was to create grounds for indicting the president.

The whistleblower further alleged that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), another committee member, likely served as the direct conduit for the leaks. These disclosures, the source said, were strategically aimed at bolstering the “Russiagate” narrative that dominated political discourse during Trump’s presidency.

“When working in this capacity, [redacted staffer’s name] was called to an all-staff meeting by SCHIFF,” one FBI interview record states. “In this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States DONALD J. TRUMP. SCHIFF stated the information would be used to indict President TRUMP.”

Swalwell has denied any involvement and instead criticized FBI Director Kash Patel, questioning the credibility of the allegations.

Promises and Politics
The whistleblower also told the FBI that Schiff had been promised the position of CIA Director if Hillary Clinton had won the 2016 election. After Clinton’s defeat, the position never materialized, but the source claimed Schiff remained determined to weaken Trump’s presidency through strategic leaks.

The source said they personally witnessed Schiff approve these leaks and attempted to alert federal authorities. However, they claim the Justice Department showed little interest in pursuing the matter. Soon after bringing their concerns to the FBI, the whistleblower says they were abruptly fired from their position.

Media Connections
While Schiff’s alleged leaking has been the subject of speculation for years — particularly among conservative media outlets such as The Gateway Pundit — new reporting has added another layer. Investigative journalist Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations suggested Monday that Schiff’s leaks may have reached Washington Post national security reporter Ellen Nakashima.

Sperry pointed to past accounts describing Nakashima as a trusted contact for senior intelligence figures, including former CIA Director John Brennan, during the early stages of the Trump–Russia saga. If true, this could connect Schiff’s alleged authorizations directly to high-profile national security reporting during one of the most politically charged investigations in modern American history.

What’s Next
It remains unclear whether these newly declassified records will prompt any official inquiry. The Justice Department has faced criticism for its apparent lack of action when first receiving the whistleblower’s claims. Critics argue that ignoring such allegations undermines public trust in government oversight, especially when classified information is involved.

For now, Schiff has not issued a public statement in response to these newly released FBI records, leaving open questions about the full scope of the alleged leaks — and their potential impact on one of the most contentious political battles of the last decade.
