The Shadow File: Whistleblowers, Secrets, and the Coup That Never Was?

Tulsi Gabbard: Whistleblowers Emerging Amid Explosive Claims of Post-Election Coup Plot

In a dramatic turn of events, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard revealed on Sunday that several whistleblowers from within the intelligence community have begun stepping forward. Their emergence comes just days after Gabbard released a cache of documents and an internal memo alleging a coordinated campaign by former President Barack Obama’s administration to sabotage President Donald Trump in the wake of the 2016 election.

Speaking on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Gabbard described the contents of the documents as evidence of a “multi-year effort” to obstruct Trump’s presidency before it began—a plot she described as a “treasonous conspiracy.”

“These brave individuals are stepping forward now that the truth is starting to come out,” Gabbard stated. “They were working inside the system and were deeply disturbed by what they witnessed. Now, they’re coming out of the shadows because they believe the American people deserve justice.”

Gabbard, who took over as Director of National Intelligence just six months ago, expressed shock at the materials her office uncovered. The documents, she claimed, had been buried in bureaucratic back channels and were never flagged by previous investigations.

Among the most explosive revelations is the suggestion that officials close to Obama initiated efforts to delegitimize Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton using fabricated intelligence reports and politically motivated surveillance.

“The idea that senior government officials would use the power of the intelligence community to undermine the democratic process should terrify every American,” Gabbard said. “This is not about politics. This is about preserving the integrity of our republic.”

She emphasized that all material in her possession would be turned over to the Department of Justice for further investigation. “We’re not just going to let this sit,” she added. “We are working toward full accountability. The truth has to come out.”

Calls for Indictments and Justice

During her appearance, Gabbard didn’t mince words when asked what should happen next. “There must be indictments,” she declared. “Anyone involved in this conspiracy—no matter how powerful—must be held accountable.”

Gabbard also raised concerns about the lack of findings in previous investigations, particularly Special Counsel John Durham’s years-long probe into the origins of the Russia investigation. Though Durham secured a single guilty plea from FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith in 2020 for altering evidence related to surveillance of Trump campaign aide Carter Page, Gabbard argued that this barely scratched the surface.

“How is it that Durham missed this?” she asked. “He had years. My team found these documents in months.”

A Deepening Divide

The developments have sent shockwaves through Trump’s political base, which has long suspected foul play in the early days of his presidency. Some of his most loyal supporters see Gabbard’s findings as confirmation of their suspicions and are calling for sweeping investigations into both the Obama and Clinton camps.

Adding to the controversy is renewed attention on the discredited Steele Dossier, which was used to justify surveillance warrants against Trump campaign officials. That dossier, funded in part by the Democratic National Committee and Clinton’s campaign, was cited as a key element in the now-debunked claims of Russian collusion.

In 2022, the Democratic Party and the Clinton campaign paid a $113,000 fine to settle a Federal Election Commission investigation into misreported spending related to the dossier’s creation. That settlement, combined with the latest revelations, is fueling speculation that a broader network of misconduct may have been deliberately concealed from the public.

A Shadow Over the Past—and the Future

Whistleblower testimony and the newly released documents are already beginning to reshape public perception of one of the most contentious chapters in modern political history. Gabbard made it clear that she views her role not only as a custodian of national intelligence but also as a watchdog ensuring that the rule of law prevails—regardless of who is in power.

“This is about restoring trust,” she said. “If Americans can’t believe that their leaders are operating honestly, how can they believe in our institutions?”

When pressed about whether these revelations could lead to legal consequences for any high-profile figures, Gabbard remained firm but cautious. “The DOJ has to do its job. We’ve lit the path. Now they have to walk it.
