A five-year-old girl died this Friday (13) after being run over by an elderly man driving a car in Almirante Tamandaré, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, Brazil. The incident occurred on Rua Suíça, in Vila Graziela.
According to information gathered by Banda B, the girl was identified as Manoele Carneiro, and was rescued in serious condition and transported by helicopter to the Hospital do Trabalhador.
According to information obtained at the scene, the death was confirmed shortly after the victim’s arrival at the unit. Family members were notified upon arrival at the hospital.
The elderly man was arrested after losing control of his vehicle while attempting to climb a hill. According to witnesses, the driver was descending the road and attempted to return down the slope, but was unable to complete the maneuver. The vehicle reversed at high speed and struck the girl, dragging him for several meters.
The driver underwent a breathalyzer test, which indicated the presence of alcohol in his system. According to Corporal Alves of the Military Police, the amount did not reach the limit established for a crime.

A breathalyzer test was administered, which showed a level well below zero, and no evidence of a crime was found. However, we will take the elderly man to the police station to inform the officer. It was a traffic violation; the breathalyzer test showed 0.14 mg/l, which does not constitute a crime, but since he was hit by a car, we must take him to the police station ,” Corporal Alves told Banda B.
The case will be investigated by the Paraná Civil Police (PCPR
