Newborn falls out of crib and dies after nurse forgets baby’s monitor cords in pocket.

A young Ohio couple faced tragedy shortly after their newborn daughter, Ellieana Peyton, was born with a rare heart condition called cardiomyopathy. After spending weeks in the NICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the parents left to shower and received devastating news: Ellieana had been accidentally dropped by a nurse who had the baby’s monitor cords in her pocket, causing the baby to be dragged from her crib.

Ellieana suffered a fractured skull and brain bleeds and passed away on March 31, just 29 days after birth. Her family described her as a radiant baby with a contagious smile and beautiful eyes. They are heartbroken but grateful for community support as they cope with the loss. Ellieana’s memory and the love she brought in her short life will never be forgotten.
