Sadly, There Are Some Sad News About Dr. Phil!


Dr. Phil’s Daytime Talk Show to Conclude After 2022-2023 Season
Dr. Phil McGraw’s popular daytime talk show will conclude after its 21st season in the 2022-2023 season. McGraw initially signed a five-year contract with CBS Media Ventures in 2018, and the syndication company is expected to offer networks the option to air previously recorded episodes during the 2023-24 season.

In a statement, McGraw expressed gratitude for his 25-year run in daytime television. Throughout the years, his show has helped countless guests and millions of viewers with issues ranging from mental health to parenting to addiction and marriage. Though he’s leaving the daytime slot, McGraw has his sights set on accomplishing even more in the future.

Upcoming Strategic Primetime Arrangement
CBS Media Ventures revealed that Dr. Phil will soon disclose information on a “strategic primetime arrangement” designed to expand his impact on television and audiences. The new project is scheduled for launch next year.

Expanding His Reach to a Larger Audience
Dr. Phil is driven by concerns for the American family and is determined to help restore clarity of purpose and core values. He feels compelled to engage with a broader audience, prompting this shift in focus.

Diversifying His Portfolio
In addition to his daytime talk show, McGraw has been working on producing scripted projects and hosting two podcasts, Mystery & Murder: Analysis by Dr. Phil and Phil in the Blanks, according to CBS officials who spoke to Variety.

A Storied Career and Lasting Impact
Dr. Phil’s television career took off in the 1990s when he appeared as a guest expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Since then, he has moderated over 4,000 shows, hosted over 20,000 guests, and received more than 5 million viewer letters. Averaging 2 million viewers per episode, Dr. Phil remains the second-most-watched talk show, behind Live with Kelly and Ryan.
