Comedian Refuses to Apologize, Insists that AOC “Sounds Like an Idiot”…


Adam Carolla is known to many as “The Podfather” because he’s the first guy who really started podcasting in the way it’s now known, starting his show way ahead of the curve. He also got Joe Rogan, now one of the top and most famous podcasters in the world, to start his show.
Recently, however, Carolla was in the news not for his being the guy that got podcasting going, but for savagely mocking Rep. AOC on his podcast, the Adam Carolla Show, joking that people wouldn’t care what AOC had to say if she were unattractive. In his words:

“If she was in her 60s and husky, nobody would listen to a word she ever said because she sounds like an idiot.”
That’s a claim he’s made before. Speaking with Hannity back in February, Carolla said:
“Here’s a quick thought experiment: If AOC was fat and in her 60s, would anyone listen to another thing she ever said?

“[S]he’s young, she’s vibrant, she’s beautiful, and everyone’s always putting a camera and a mic in her face. But her opinions are idiotic 95 percent of the time. And I don’t think, if she was a middle-aged heavy-set woman, anyone would care what she had to say.”

Those comments led to outrage that came largely from the left, with John Stossel noting two instances of that outrage in a recent opinion piece of his, saying:

“Predatory!” said “Majority Report’s” Emma Vigeland.

“Projects his sexism onto others,” said “Young Turks” host Cenk Uygur.

Carolla isn’t backing down, however. Commenting to Stossel that he’s just wired “not to care [about criticism], as long as I’m right,” Carolla also blasted those who attempt to force those with whom they disagree to apologize, saying:

“They want you to apologize because they want dominion over you. And once you apologize, they just keep coming back.”

Stossel commented on Carolla’s devil-may-care attitude and friendship with those on the left despite his own right-leaning political views in a recent article in the Daily Signal, saying:

Carolla laughs at those attacks.

He’s unusual in Hollywood because he’s still friends with leftists who disagree with him.

He does stand-up comedy with Sarah Silverman. He joins Bill Maher’s podcast. Such political mixing is rare today. Usually, the left and right just don’t talk to each other.

Carolla says that’s not surprising.

“If you’re a Steelers fan in a bar, you want to sit next to a guy who’s a Steelers fan.” But, he says, “occasionally … you have to invite somebody over from the Patriots bar and have a robust debate.”

But, though he has those friends, Carolla is still willing to savagely critique certain aspects of the modern left (even outside of AOC, who we’ve seen he’s happy to go after), particularly its support of the self-esteem movement and identity politics. Speaking on those topics, Carolla said:

“We started…in earnest with this self-esteem movement, that it’d be really good if everyone had high self-esteem. And the way you get high self-esteem is through accomplishing things that are tough. But you can’t just hand people high self-esteem and tell them they’re the best and they don’t need to listen to anybody, and nothing they can do is wrong. And when you do that, you create a monster, essentially. You create horrible citizens.”

“It’s…interesting that we’ve decided — as a society — that if something happens to an individual, we just find another individual that sort of looks like that person, and they [can] comment on it. … When I was 12, I looked like Donnie Osmond. So if Donnie Osmond got in a plane crash, would they come to me for commentary? Like, ‘Well, as a white guy who has big teeth and unruly hair, my feelings are…’”

Oh, and he added again that “AOC sounds like an idiot.” He sure doesn’t want you to forget that…
