For 40 years, teaching wasn’t just a job — it was a calling. Even while serving on the national stage, she continued grading papers, leading lessons, and showing up for her community college students with the same dedication she brought on day one. Her decision to retire came after her final class at Northern Virginia Community College, a place she often described as her second home.
During a heartfelt message to educators nationwide, she reflected on the meaning of a lifetime in the classroom, expressing gratitude for the colleagues who walked alongside her and the students who shaped her journey. Though her role as an educator has come to a close, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched — a reminder that some of the most powerful leaders make their greatest impact far from the spotlight.
