5 mistakes we make when drinking water. Check 1st comment

The human’s body is made up of about 60% water on average. This percentage wary based on age, sex, and body composition.

In order for your body to function properly and efficiently, you need to keep it hydrated.

Water is crucial for most bodily functions, including controlling body temperature, aiding digestion, and facilitating the movement of nutrients and waste in and out of cells.

Throughout the day, the body loses water through sweat, urine, breath, and body movements. So, it is essential to take enough water in order to make up for these loses.

Otherwise, it can lead to dehydration.

Experts advise drinking at least eight to ten glasses of water per day. However, the quantity you consume isn’t the sole factor to consider. In fact, knowing the right way to drink water is essential for achieving the best health benefits.

1. Drinking water while standing

According to Ayurveda, considered by many scholars the oldest healing science, you should avoid drinking water while standing because that way it goes to your lower belly, not reaching the organs.

One’s nerves get tensed while drinking water when standing. It can disturb the fluid balance, and cause indigestion,” says Dr Pritam Moon, a consultant physician.

2. Drinking too much water

If you believed there is no such a thing like too much water, you are wrong. In fact, consuming too much water can lead to hyponatremia, a condition when the sodium level in your blood drops too low. Symptoms include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache and confusion.

Also, drinking too much water can cause swelling of the heart and the brain, as well as seizures and coma.

3. Consuming water too quickly

Since the body needs time to adjust to the temperature of the water, drinking it too quickly will prevent the body to do so which can lead to stomach cramps and nausea.

4. Drinking water during meals

While water is essential for your body, consuming it during meals can sometimes cause bloating and indigestion. This is because the stomach may struggle to digest both solids and liquids at the same time.

5. Having ice-cold water

Ice-cold water may interfere with proper digestion. Although a glass of cold water sounds refreshing, especially during the hot summer days, it may shock the digestive system, tighten the blood vessels, and even slow down the heart rate.

In addition, it forces your body to work harder in order to regain balance.

It would be for the best to choose room temperature water instead.
