Homeless man asks Burger King worker ‘What can I get for $0.50?’ – the boy’s answer is wise beyond his years

One evening at Burger King in 2018, a homeless man walked in with only 50 cents and asked what he could buy. Most would have told him nothing, but Matthew Resendez, a young employee, chose a different path.

He asked the man what he would like to eat and then rang up the heartiest meal on the menu, paying for it himself with his own money. A customer who witnessed this act of kindness was so moved that she tipped Matthew $100 and even wrote to the company praising his generosity.

Matthew’s mother later shared the story on Facebook, proudly highlighting her son’s big heart and desire to help those in need. This simple yet powerful act reminds us that even small gestures of kindness can have a lasting impact, showing compassion to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
