According to the start of the inquest, a teenage girl was discovered deceased in the bathtub.
On April 27 of this year, emergency personnel were dispatched to Kiara Ainsworth’s residence in Accrington, Lancashire.
Unfortunately, 13-year-old Kiara could not be revived after being discovered unconscious in the bathtub.
An investigation was started by the coroner’s office after Kiara’s unexpected death was reported to them.
According to the Preston Coroner’s Court inquiry, which began on Thursday, Kiara had a “significant medical history” that included epilepsy.
Area Coroner Kate Bisset said, “She was found deceased at home in the bath in circumstances which suggest she may well have had an epileptic seizure whilst in the bath.”
On August 7, the last inquiry investigating Kiara’s death will take place.
The ‘lovely and compassionate’ 13-year-old has received a flood of tributes from friends and family.
A May 2 Facebook post by Christine Houghton reads: “On behalf of Zara, Hayden, Adrian and all of our family and friends we’d like to say how much we appreciate all your kind words, condolences and gestures of support while we grieve the loss of Kiara.”
“She was the most beautiful and kind, fun and sassy 13 year old girl you could hope to meet and has left a huge hole in our hearts.”
“We now know that Kiara tragically passed due to an epileptic episode which has left us heartbroken.”
