It Hurts So Bad to Say Goodbye’: Miranda Lambert Mourns Death of Her Adopted Dog Thelma…
Miranda Lambert bid farewell to one of her Great Pyrenees this week. In a moving tribute, the fur mama wrote she loves the canine with all her heart and reminded fans to adopt a pet.
“Yesterday, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Thelma.” Miranda Lambert wrote on July 25, 2023. “She spent her days lounging in the barn and her nights keeping watch over all of us. She lived the last eight years with no fences, just freedom to do what she did best. Love and protect.”
Lambert had adopted Thelma and Louise on May 1, 2016, to guard one of the singer’s “happiest places on earth,” her farm just outside Nashville.
She fell in love with the two white Great Pyrenees pooches on the 10-hour drive from Dallas to Nashville in her tour bus after she formally adopted them.
“It hurts so bad to say goodbye to these sweet companions, but their love is always worth it.,” the country star wrote. “How lucky are we to get to have friends like Thelma?” She added:
“I am so proud to have been part of her story.”
She thanked her farm managers for their exceptional care of all her fur babies, concluding, “Y’all don’t forget, love a shelter pet.” Louise has stepped down from her position of watching over the other animals, which include cats, chickens, and mini horses.
Over the holidays in 2022, she showcased 11 dogs that needed forever homes.
The giant dog can now enjoy retirement with “all the more love and snuggles from” Miranda, her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, and their other dogs.
