Avery Koonce: The sad story behind her illness and death.

Avery Koonce was an exceptional athlete at her high school in Texas, where she set remarkable records in both the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.

Her love for running took her to the Air Force Academy, where she became a member of the women’s track and field team. Sadly, at the young age of 19, she can no longer enjoy the thrill and liberation that her beloved sport provided.

Her unexpected passing has left her family, friends, and the entire Air Force Academy community in deep sorrow.

On September 4, 2024, emergency responders were called to the dorm room of freshman Avery Koonce in Colorado Springs.
