Gene Hackman’s Daughter Speaks Out on Her Father’s Death – Shares Suspicions

Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 64, were found dead in their Santa Fe home on February 26, 2025, along with their dog. Authorities found no signs of foul play, but the cause of death is still under investigation.

His daughter, Elizabeth, suggested carbon monoxide poisoning as a possibility but noted uncertainty about gas leaks or recent maintenance. She reflected on Hackman’s peaceful retirement in New Mexico, where he pursued painting after leaving Hollywood in 2004.

Hackman, a two-time Oscar winner, starred in over 70 films, with The French Connection being among his favorites. Investigations into the tragedy are ongoing.
