Reba McEntire is familiar with the pain of sorrow and loss.

The country music star was k i ll ll e d in an aeroplane crash in 1991 while performing,

along with seven other band members and her tour manager.

A private event in San Diego featured a performance by the famous person and her band on March 16, 1991.

At Brown Field Municipal Airport, two aircraft were prepared to fly the band members to Fort Wayne, Indiana. ,

for the scheduled performance that follows.

The band members and tour manager took off, leaving McEntire, her manager Narvel Blackstock at the time, and her stylist Sandi Spika in San Diego for the evening.

In a depressing 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, McEntire recalled what happened next. Only ten miles east of the airport,

the first jet to depart crashed, while the second jet took off unharmed and made it to its destination.
