FBI reopens investigation into White House cocaine scandal

In a surprising move, the FBI has reopened its investigation into the mysterious bag of cocaine found near the West Wing of the White House in July 2023. Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced on May 26 that the case is among several receiving fresh attention, alongside the Supreme Court Dobbs leak and the 2021 D.C. pipe bombing. He confirmed that more resources are being dedicated to unsolved cases involving possible public corruption.

The cocaine discovery stunned the nation last summer, leading to a temporary evacuation of the White House. The bag was found in a frequently accessed cubby area near the West Wing’s entrance, used by staff and visitors alike. Despite intensive efforts, the original investigation stalled due to a lack of fingerprints or DNA on the bag and a suspect pool of over 500 individuals.

Former President Donald Trump reignited controversy by openly suggesting that either President Biden or his son Hunter might be connected to the incident. Although the Biden family was reportedly at Camp David when the drugs were found, Hunter’s history with substance abuse has kept public speculation alive. In past interviews and his memoir, Hunter has spoken candidly about his past addiction but claims to have remained sober since 2019.

With the FBI now back on the case and security protocols under the spotlight, many are asking whether this renewed focus will yield new evidence or answers. For now, the identity of who brought cocaine into one of the most secure buildings in the world remains a lingering question.
