Teen tennis star killed by alleged drunk driver after surviving house fire months earlier

Eighteen-year-old Braun Levi, a senior at Loyola High School, had already faced immense hardship when his family lost their home in the Palisades Fire in January. Despite this, he thrived in school, excelled on the tennis court, and prepared for his future at the University of Virginia.

Tragically, on May 4, Braun was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver, 33-year-old Jenia Belt, in Manhattan Beach. Braun was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. The loss is devastating for his family, who has now lost both their home and their son in just five months.

Braun’s legacy as a compassionate and driven young man will be remembered long after his years. Instead of celebrating his graduation, his family and community are now planning a memorial.
