Woman died in head-on collision seconds after uploading Facebook status

Some lessons are too important to forget—like driving with full attention. A tragic example of this occurred in 2014, when 32-year-old Courtney Sanford died in a head-on collision just seconds after posting a happy Facebook status while driving.

At 8:33am, she wrote, “The happy song makes me so HAPPY.” One minute later, her car crossed the median and crashed into a recycling truck, bursting into flames. Police found no signs of drugs, alcohol, or speeding—just distraction.

Lt. Chris Weisner of High Point Police said the crash was a powerful warning about texting while driving: “In a matter of seconds, a life was over just so she could notify some friends that she was happy.”

Fortunately, the other driver was unharmed. The heartbreaking story is a lasting reminder that no message is worth a life.
