Parboil the peppers in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling

In a skillet, combine ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess grease and set aside.

Cook the Rice-A-Roni according to the package directions.
Once the rice is cooked, combine it with the cooked beef and onion mixture. Mix well to combine.
Step 4: Assemble and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Place the parboiled peppers in a baking dish.
Fill each pepper with the rice and beef mixture.
Mix the sugar with the tomato sauce and pour the sauce around the peppers (not over them).
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes.
Remove the foil and top each pepper with shredded cheddar cheese.
Bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

Remove the stuffed bell peppers from the oven.
Let them cool slightly before serving.
Drizzle the extra tomato sauce over the peppers before serving for an extra burst of flavor.
