THIS NOTE LED ME TO MY FATHER, WHO DIDN’T KNOW I EXISTED.

THIS NOTE LED ME TO MY FATHER, WHO DIDN’T KNOW I EXISTED.

I’m 39, single, and lived with my mom all my life. No complaints—I had a good life. I dated, searched for “the one,” and every night, mom and I would laugh (or sigh) over my latest failed romance.

But here’s the twist: I never knew my dad. He wasn’t dead. He didn’t abandon us. He just… never existed in my life. Mom never spoke about him. Like, at all.

So a few days ago, I was at a thrift store, browsing like always, and I spotted this old men’s jacket. Perfect for my mom—she loves vintage stuff. I brought it home, and when she saw it, her whole face changed. Like, really changed. She went pale and said, “I know that jacket.”

I joked, “C’mon, everyone wore this style back then.” But she didn’t laugh.

I tried it on, looked in the mirror, and felt something in the pocket. It was a yellowed note. I read it aloud:

“I’LL WAIT FOR YOU AT OUR PLACE. TOMORROW, APRIL 17. 5 PM. YOURS, SOFIE.”

Mom sat down and whispered, “I wrote that… 40 years ago.”

The next thing I knew, we were racing back to the thrift store, hearts pounding, desperate to find out who brought in that jacket.

The story of my search for a father who didn’t even know I existed is in the comments below.👇
