The tragic passing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a Frisco ISD student-athlete, has resonated deeply within his Texas community.

Austin was tragically stabbed to death at a champions meet on April 2. Reportedly, he died in his twin’s brother’a arms.

According to witnesses, Austin got into an argument with another student, also 17, Karmelo Anthony, allegedly over a camping spot.

Sadly, as the argument got heated, Karmelo stubbed Austin in the heart, leaving him to bleed to death in his twin brother’s arms.

Austin was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Hi brother, Hunter, recalled the incident.

“This kid was sitting under our tent at track, we asked him to move. He started getting aggressive and talking reckless and my brother stepped in and said, ‘you need to move,’” Hunter explained. “And he’s like, ‘Make me move.’”

A person who was at the scene said everything escalated very quickly. “Touch me and see what happens,” Karmelo allegedly said before he pulled a black knife and stabbed Austin after fleeing the scene.

Karmelo was later arrested but claimed he attacked Austin during an act of self-defense.

“They were twins, identical twins. And his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” the devastated father, Jeff Metcalf, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

“I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him.

“This is murder.”

The devastated mother of the stabbed teen also broke her silence after her son’s tragic passing.
”My son is gone, and I don’t really have words,” Meghan Metcalf shared on The Will Cain Show and added: ”He’s just going to be so missed by mostly our family, but this whole community has really wrapped their arms around us. If I could say anything to the nation, I would say to make sure that you just hug your babies tight, because you don’t know when [is] the last time you get to do it.”
