Mashed potatoes are a comforting classic, but could your cooking method be limiting their potential? TikTok comedian Jourdyn Parks suggests boiling potatoes in stock instead of water for a flavor boost. She explains that using chicken, beef, or vegetable stock infuses the potatoes with rich flavor and results in a creamier texture.
Parks’ method involves washing and rubbing the potatoes with avocado oil, optionally leaving the skin on, and boiling them in a mix of stock, water, and sea salt. The result is a more flavorful, cohesive side dish that doesn’t require extra seasoning.
