Donald Trump claims there’s a ‘loophole’ which could allow him to serve third term as president

Donald Trump claims there are ‘methods’ to possibly ensure he’ll return to the White House in 2028
The Republican says he’s serious about running for a third presidency in 2028 – if an alleged ‘loophole’ allows him.

Speaking to NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday (30 Mar), the US president Donald Trump insisted he’s ‘not joking’ about a potential third stint in the White House, claiming he’ll do all he can to see it happen.

For people who might not have known, the Constitution does not allow one man to fulfil the powerful position more than two times.
It reads: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.”

However, the Republican leader has now vowed to investigate a ‘loophole’, which he believes might see him discounted from the rules, claiming ‘a lot of people want’ him to serve a third term.

After Trump alleged that there are ‘methods which you could do it’, Welker suggested to the father-of-five that his Vice President, JD Vance, could run for the world leader position, which would allow him to hire Trump as his own VP.

But there are others too,” the 78-year-old continued, but opted not to elaborate further.

“I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration,” he added, however.

“I’m focused on the current.”

Trump went on to admit he’d be eager to continue in the position until 2033, adding: “I like working.”
He continued: “I’m not joking. But I’m not – it is far too early to think about it.”

He previously hinted at the idea of running for a third time during a private House Republican meeting in November – just days after his election victory against Democratic representative and Joe Biden’s former VP, Kamala Harris.
