Remembering A Beloved Singer from the 1960s

We are saddened to announce the passing of 1960s singer Sandy Posey, who brought joy with her soulful voice and storytelling. Sandy peacefully passed away at 80, surrounded by her beloved husband, Wade Cummins, at their Tennessee home.

Born in Jasper, Alabama, Sandy’s music was deeply influenced by gospel and country melodies, leading to her breakthrough hit “Born a Woman” in 1966, which earned her a Grammy nomination. Though the music landscape evolved, Sandy’s legacy endures through her memorable hits and contributions to the music industry. Rest in peace, Sandy Posey.
