Melania Trump has allegedly been accused by Jill Biden of violating a significant First Lady custom.
On 20 January, Donald Trump will assume the presidency, taking over the role from his Democrat predecessor, Joe Biden, making Melania the new First Lady of the United States.
Jill has since reflected on her time in the role as she prepares to leave the White House, opening up about her upcoming replacement reportedly declining an invitation to a ‘customary’ event.
In an exit interview with the Washington Post, Jill revealed Melania did not attend a tea she had invited her to at the White House – a long-held tradition for incoming and outgoing first ladies during the presidential transition.
This prompted Jill to then give Trump a note to pass along to his wife.
I congratulated her and I offered help,” Jill said of the note, but didn’t end up hearing back from Melania until Jimmy Carter’s state funeral last week (9 January) when Melania thanked Jill ‘during pleasantries’.
Tyla has reached out to the Trump transition team for comment.
Melania has previously made a bold statement ahead of Trump’s return to power.
