MY MIL DEMANDED TO SHARE A HOTEL ROOM

MY MIL DEMANDED TO SHARE A HOTEL ROOM WITH MY HUSBAND ON OUR ANNIVERSARY TRIP

When we planned our 10th anniversary trip, I was so excited—a week at a luxury resort, just me and my husband, finally getting some alone time, our first real getaway since our son was born five years ago. But then my MIL got involved.

She decided she was coming too. Her pitch? She’d watch our son so we could “relax.” I wasn’t thrilled but figured, “Fine, she’ll have her own room. How bad can it be?”

Oh, sweet summer me.

We get to the resort, and while we’re checking in, MIL makes a big deal about how she “hates showers” and needs a bath for her bones. Before I could blink, she barged into our suite, dumped her bag on the bed, and said, “This will do nicely. You can stay in the other room with the child, and I’ll stay here with my son.”

Wait, what? But she literally came to watch our kid!
Her message was loud and clear: You’re the outsider here, the third wheel.

I looked at my husband, waiting for him to say something—anything. Instead, he shrugged. “It’s just for sleeping. We can still do the rest of the trip together. Let’s not make it a big deal.”

Not a big deal? It was our anniversary, and she was claiming my suite and my husband.

But then it just hit me. Instead of snapping, I smiled sweetly. “Of course. Whatever makes you comfortable.”

If she wanted to act like the queen of the resort, I’d let her—while I carried out my own plan. ⬇️
