The cable car service closed and reopened after officials carried out extensive checks.

It was revealed the accident was caused by strong gusts, prompting a technical fault that led to the door opening just moments after the gondola left the substation.

The yellow cable car had the Chinese text ‘Welcome to Yandang Mountain Cableway’ printed on the window.

A man was seen seated next to the open door while apparently making a phone call to report the woman had fallen out.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Located in Yueqing, Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, Yandang Mountain is one of China’s top tourist destinations. The mountain, praised as the “number one mountain in the southeast” of China, holds a national 5A scenic rating.

Additionally, the area is a renowned geological park and has served as a backdrop for many famous films, including scenes from the martial arts classic “The Legend of the Condor Heroes.”

Yandang Mountain features over 550 scenic sites, including the famous Lingfeng, Lingyan, and Dalongjing, known as the “three sacred peaks.”
